Ethiopia: A rich history, breath taking scenery and abundant birds.

Tour Leader - Rufus Reade.
Amongst the many highlights of the country this tour will take in the medieval capital and monolithic rock-cut churches of Lalibela, the 17th century castles of Gondar, the sight of the 1 km deep Blue Nile Gorge and the Rift Valley escarpment and lakes. Ethiopia’s claim to be the second country to espouse Christianity means that the faith developed along distinctively different lines to the classically influenced religion around the Mediterranean, making our visits to the churches very special. Ethiopia is rich in its natural fauna, and we will be spending time looking at its wide variety of both animals and birds, many of which are endemic to the country, and which often allow you to get quite close. Our birder, on his third visit to the country, is Mike Betts.

The tour is led by Rufus Reade.
