The Nomads Tent at Lordington House - 9th October to 17th October

An exciting exhibition opens on Saturday 9th October in the beautiful setting of Lordington House, home of Mr and Mrs John Hamilton, near Walderton at the foot of the South Downs.

This unique collection of oriental, decorative and tribal carpets, rugs and kilims has been gathered by The Nomads Tent from nomadic peoples living in Turkey, India, Iran,Afghanistan, and Morocco. The Exhibition includes an array of artefacts, textiles, jewellery and furniture (see below). Visitors will feel that they have landed by magic carpet in the middle of an Eastern bazaar. Side by side with the traditional patterns and colours of tribal work are displayed modern designs reflecting more recent decorative trends and a good selection of large decorative and city woven carpets will also be available. The range of items on sale will be wide, catering for all tastes, with prices to suit all pockets.

The Exhibition will be launched with a preview and light lunch in aid of the NSPCC on Friday 8th October from 12.30pm. Tickets at £12 may be booked in advance from Abigail Rowe: 01243 389 088.

There will be two illustrated lectures by Rufus Reade, who hosts well-researched specialist tours. His subject will be 'Ethiopia: churches, animals and birds' on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th October at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 in aid of the NSPCC (drinks will be served).
